I love cons! I try to go to one or two every year. Going to Darkover this year (I hope) and if I can manage it, World Fantasy (which is so awesome and huge).
Oh, yeah! I was trying to find one to get involved in but I couldn't come up with a fan-fic character I thought I could play that wasn't already taken! I need to watch less popular television. ^-^ If you do make it to World Fantasy, be sure to relate all the sweet details!
I dunno, would you be interested in realityshifted? It's all canon characters, LJ-based, and set in a sci-fi weirdo place called the Astral Plane. Very Matrixy!
Actually, for kicks I decided to check out how much it would actually cost for me to do this, and it seems doable. Well, doable in the sense that it is not impossible depending on how much I want to go, and I've really wanted to go to this for years. Let's see, about $75 for registration, $700 for a plane ticket from NH, $500 for a hotel room, a couple hundred for food and stuff... Hm, it's really a question of whether or not I want to set aside $75 from my paychecks from now until next July...
Well hold up, where is Comic-Con next year? And there's also fluctuating flight prices to think about. I haven't heard whether gas prices are expected to go up or down next year.
BUT! I will do it. Somehow. Even if I have to prostitute myself >|
San Diego Convention Center is usually the venue, I'm pretty sure. Well, sure, gas prices will fluctuate and such, but unless it increases a lot, my theoretical accumulated savings should be sufficient.
