Lacking in Chocolate

Molly called earlier and we chatted it up, mostly about Lost and all the questions that arose from the season finale. We went a half an hour before Kate called, then it became a conferance call, with Max too (Kate's bf...actually his name is Charles, but everyone calls him Max) where we chatted it up further about Lost and life and stuffles. It was pretty awesome, seeing as I haven't heard from either of them in a few weeks, except for a five minute convo I had with Kate online the other day.
Julie was online earlier too, but she was out that evening--their evening--whenever it was evening in their timezone--so we couldn't call her. We talked about characters, oh man, *squee!* Apparently one of her characters looks like Christian Bale when he smiles. Twee!
I'm about 70% done with Secret of Mana. It's a long game--really. I'm thinking of getting back into the gaming world. Maybe I'll check out this "Final Fantasy" thing I've heard tell of. Anyone have opinions on good games for PS2?
My chocolate supply is running out. I think I'll make a cake. Maybe now...mm...cake...

Date: 2006-05-28 03:32 pm (UTC)Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is a decent real-time RPG exploration kind of thing. Not a great story, but it's fun to buy shiny swords and cool armor and learn magic and go out and kill a lot of stuff.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is a similar game, but with better music and worse dialogue (but that's okay, because there's not a whole lot of dialogue, anyway). It's a lot longer and harder, though. I still haven't beaten it.
Jak II is pretty fun if you wanna try something more lighthearted. I haven't played the first or third ones, but I'd think those would be pretty cool too. And you can toggle Jak's goatee on and off. Pretty sweet, huh?
If you want something other than an RPG, TimeSplitters 2 has a good sense of humor and is great for venting some steam by blowing stuff up.
A Bard's Tale, I've heard, is an excellent fantasy game satire. Haven't played it myself, but it's been on my list for a long while. I imagine it's something like Dark Alliance, but funnier. I've also heard Tomb Raider: Legend is supposed to be really good, too.
That's pretty much all I've got for now.... I really made myself want to go do some gaming.

Date: 2006-05-29 04:24 am (UTC)I played Secret of Mana a few years back, but I don't remember it too well. I know it's made by the same company that did the FF games, and I'm sure its succcess contributed to the making of the FFs, but I don't know about any other direct links. But yeah, pick up an FF game. Do it now. Don't waste any more time. Seriously.
I have an extra FFVIII set I'd offer to send you, but some of the discs don't work so you wouldn't be able to finish the game anyway. I'd recommend that one to start out with, though -- it's got the most badass opening sequence in the history of gaming.

Date: 2006-05-29 09:02 pm (UTC)Everyone seems to like 7 a lot, but I didn't get into it much. The characters were kind of bland, in my opinion. But then, I played it after I'd played 8 and 9, and characters don't get any more dynamic than they are in 8 and 9. And besides, Squall (8's main character) is hot as hell. Oh my gods. I gotta go play that right now.
