Nope. They're not even set in the same world. Except for X and X-2 -- they've got the same characters and setting.
Everyone seems to like 7 a lot, but I didn't get into it much. The characters were kind of bland, in my opinion. But then, I played it after I'd played 8 and 9, and characters don't get any more dynamic than they are in 8 and 9. And besides, Squall (8's main character) is hot as hell. Oh my gods. I gotta go play that right now.
