Terrier of the Abyss

Tales of the Abyss has pretty much slayed Julie and I. It started out as this campy and kind of whatev game. Then it started getting all political and the storyline got a shitload more complex. And now it's become this emotionally-charged, super-complicated game full of questionable ethics and moral dilemmas and oh-my-God-awesomeness. I never expected it to get so intense. And I like the main character a lot more now.
The RP has likewise gotten crazy-intense and awesome.
Also, finally managed to read Tammy's "Terrier," since we had it for ARF (my independent study, in which we read sci-fi/fantasy all. the. time). It's definitely my favorite of Tammy's books (though I think I still like the Emelan world better). Beka is awesome. The language is awesome (I still find myself thinking in the slang). It was somewhat trying since I ended up staying up till 4:30 to finish it. But it was so worth it. Brilliant on all accounts.
CNS has apparently been repaired, maybe? ASIC is back there, though there's been no word about my classes.
Also, Mot is going swimmingly.
More TotA now, kthxbye.

Date: 2008-02-08 04:29 am (UTC)Yeah, the gameplay and the plot are both quite awesome. Battles are unique; it's a style I've never seen used before. I only wish it was possible to control the camera, but it's okay since the camera doesn't go all wonky like it does in some games.
I don't know about the end yet since we're only about halfway, but I just love how it gradually built up. And I love how everyone has natural human reactions to things.
And there were some really intense scenes, like, almost-but-not-quite too intense for a T rating.

Date: 2008-02-08 05:03 am (UTC)Which is why I'm so pissed off at the PS3.By the way, how are you liking Gurren Lagann, or have you seen it before? Second time I've seen Kamina's death and it's still like "aw fuck punch-in-the-gut." Oddly intense and dramatic for such a fun show.

Date: 2008-02-08 05:10 am (UTC)You should be pissed off at the PS3 for being so expensive and not having very many good games.I am loving Gurren Lagann. I haven't seen it before, although I watched today's episodes before ASIC to make sure that the conversion went fine (and because I was bored at work) which is how I knew about the girl in box.
I would have watched to show sooner, but I wanted to wait until ASIC to make it more fun.
It is so good though. Voice acting, writing, art, animation, plot... it's all top-notch. It is climbing it's way up my favorite anime list very quickly and if it keeps this up, it might beat Death Note...
I was sad about Kamina's death, but as I was discussing with Alec, it really had to happen. His character had nowhere else to go and every other character has everywhere to go. As the inspirational character, he means more in death because otherwise, he would just get annoying. Plus, talk about going out with a bang.
Have you seen the whole thing?

Oh, I know. As Virginia Wolf said, the death of the visionary character has the most impact. They have the whole martyr thing going on. I liked how they did it, though. It was so sudden and "oh fuck!" like it is in real life when someone dies...
Heavens no! I've actually only seen up to just where we stopped. Lol, I cheated and watched episodes when I was bored in Florida. But I decided to hold out for ASIC just after Nia showed up. (I hear she ends up not being a Mary Sue, so I'm looking forward to that.)

Lol, you have no idea how many times I've had to switch between usernames in the past while. Logout, login, logout, login...

Why, the RP? Well, you could just ignore me, lol.
