The Coming Storm

I don't know what to think. I can't remember hearing storm warnings to this degree any time in the three years I've lived in Ithaca, I mean, not even before that snow day last year. It sounds like they've been playing it up (as the media is wont to do), but then again, who knows? It'll be bad, that much is obvious, but really--I still remember when Hurricane Bob made it up to Cape Cod, and in my consideration, if trees aren't being snapped in half like twigs then it's not much to bark about, lol.
Lol, you shoulda seen all the people at Tops today. Everyone's stocking up for the weekend. The college sent out an e-mail reminding everyone of the procedures during an emergency close-down, which means that they, at least, are worried it might be bad enough to close the school. This is supposed to go on into Monday, so I wonder how it's gonna affect finals.
The clouds to the northeast are this dark, dark blue color.
Should be fun. I'll let you know if Ithaca still exists later.

Date: 2007-12-16 09:00 am (UTC)Finished the first season, on into the second. Can't decide which doctor I like better, though David Tennant is pretty much the shit (and quite cute).

Date: 2007-12-16 09:12 am (UTC)Question: Would it be cool if I joined in? I much prefer watching things with people and it seems like we're roughly around the same place. Plus, I've hardly hung out with you or Julie all semester, ASIC notwithstanding. Oh, and I think I like David Tennant better just because he's more like the traditional Doctor. Christopher Eccleston was great, but he was a little too dark for the Doctor. Granted, this is post-war Doctor, but still, it's nice to have a happy-go-lucky Doctor. Also, David Tennant is freaking hilarious.
Oh, and how about them Daleks? "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!"

Date: 2007-12-17 12:02 am (UTC)Well, here's the thing. It would be great for you to join in when we actually watch them not-randomly. See, at this point, since it's finals, we're pretty much just like "want to watch an ep?" "ya, sure." However, we do have someone who hasn't seen anything beyond the first episode and wants to see the rest of it, so we'll be taking her through the first and second season again. You could join us then...of course that won't be till next semester, and both of us will probably have finished the second season by then...
Trouble is that it's finals week and Julie and I both have insane schedules, so it'll be a miracle if we get many more episodes watched at all. Plus the randomness. But how about this. You're free to join when we get Sophia caught up next semester. And also, we'll be trying to get our hands on the third season, and you'll be more than welcome when we watch those.
Also, Kate has said she's willing to lend you her season 1 of Avatar, as long as you don't use the disks for frisbees or anything like that, lol. Let me know if you're interested (it's only the best fucking show on TV at this point...lol).
I do love David Tennant if only because he has much more of a puppy-like quality than Christopher did. And actually I think they have about equal degrees of darkness. Post-traumatic stress will do that to you, heh.
The Daleks are surprisingly terrifying. Especially that whole Emperor/God business. The thing is, they're so pathetic looking, and kind of cliched with the whole "exterminate/you will be assimilated lol" thing, but...they're really one of the scariest enemies I've seen because they look so pathetic and harmless. They're so slow and methodical and they look like trashcans, but they're completely deadly. All that hate and intelligence. I want to know who created them.
And the way the Doctor reacts to them, no matter who he is at the time--it's frightening. In the last episode when they went back into the Tardis and the Doctor had his head against the door, listening to them all ranting outside...it was chilling. I do love me some PTSD, lol.
We just finished the Girl in the Fireplace. Excellent.

Date: 2007-12-17 12:11 am (UTC)Anyway, I'll totally come rewatch with you guys and Sophia next semester.
Oh, and I'm cool with getting Avatar from Kate.
Oh, and I don't think the storm turned out that bad. I did a bit of driving and I was having an OK time with it.
Oh, and I want to be a Dalek for Halloween.
Oh, and "The Girl in the Fireplace" was great.
Oh, and good luck with finals!
