Oy, spring break is over and I'm back in college. And I have a shitload of homework over the next few weeks (think about four essays). But I shan't speak of that.

Break! Well I missed my flight out of Ithaca but it turned out okay because there was one leaving two hours later they managed to get me on. To Philly to Boston then took a bus to Portland where the g-rents picked me up. On the ride to their house I had the first panic attack of that day, which was pretty good considering travel tends to stress me out. So that was Saturday. Sunday we didn't do much, I hung out around the house, started this banana puzzle that I do traditionally everytime I go (great puzzle) and that night we watched the Oscars.

A word on that. I didn't see Crash, but I still think it's odd that that one won. I didn't really hear anything about it when it came out, except that it was gritty and depressing-like. But oh well. All the good movies that I wanted to win got something (Brokeback got two or three, woot, including Best Director--but you already knew that). And Jon Stewart was pretty awesome, though he did seem a little toned down. I haven't seen the Daily Show that often (blasphemy, I know) but what I've seen, he's really snarky and witty, and he didn't seem exactly...there for the Oscars.

Monday. What did I do Monday? I honestly don't remember. That might be the day we went into town so Grandma could show me this totally awesome new and used CD/DVD place (independent, not chain). I didn't find the CD I was looking for, but I found the anime rack so that enthused me pretty well. Went home with FMA 7 and two Triguns. Oh yeah.

Tuesday, yes. We went into Portland, first went to the mall--Best Buy and Borders--where I got the new Neko Case CD. Oh my heavens is it ever awesome. Got a book at Borders too. After that we went to this museum that was having a Surrealism display, which was interesting but not too elaborate. I was thinking "Surrealism=Dali," who I love, but mostly it was sketchy stuff and stuff done in crayon (no joke) and pretty much just a history of Surrealism. I guess it was all from this one guy's collection, some guy who helped to keep the movement going for awhile. Well, it was all good and interesting, but when that was through I went to the main part of the museum which had some portraits and landscapes which were utterly to die for, oh man. Lovely. Oh, and I had lobster that night. Mmmmmm. Good House ep that night too.

Wednesday we went skiing. Skiing! SKIING! Oh man. I'd forgotten how much I loved it. We got there around noonish and started on a green hill so I could make sure I hadn't lost the ability in the three or four years I've been away from the snow. No problems there, haha, and I spent the rest of the day flying down hills. My uncle Charlie showed up after about an hour, which was good cause he's plenty faster on snowboard that my grandparents, so I didn't have to wait that long and feel guilty about leaving them in the dust. Or powder. We had lunch, skiied till it got icy and went home.

Wednesday was also the series finale of Samurai Champloo which is all kinds of awesome and the first Watanabe series I've seen that doesn't kill the main characters in the end, WOOT.

Thursday, I'm not sure what we did early, probably hung around. Then we went to this little restaurant which in my opinion wasn't all that great, and after that we went to this play. The play was called "I Am My Own Wife" and it's a one-man show, the true story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (?), an m-f transvestite in East Berlin who survived not only the Nazi persecution of homosexuals (etc.) but also the Communist rule that followed. The play was kickass, and Charlotte was an incredible character (she spent her days collecting antiques and ran an antique furniture museum up until her death a few years ago. Had an obsession with phonographs too). The actor slid seamlessly between the role of Charlotte, the playwrite (who wrote himself into the play--the story there is he heard about Charlotte's story from a friend and went to interview her in Germany. He felt a connection between them because he had grown up gay in the Bible Belt, so he "could imagine what it was like to grow up in the Third Reich." I loved that line.), and dozens of other characters seamlessly. Excellent stuff, I hope it goes west sometime.

Friday, uh, let's see. We didn't really do much. My dad came out having finished his business trip in NY, so that was cool. Other than that I can't think of anything. Friday was the Battlestar Galactica season finale, which was OMFG.

Saturday I finished the banana puzzle, and Uncle Charlie, Aunt Deb and cousins Liza and Grace came out to spend the night. We took a walk, cousins showed me a playground I didn't know was there, and we mucked about in the woods apart from the adults and picked our way back home. Also hung out around the G-rents' dock during sunset, and talked Harry Potter theories--I injected the theory that RAB is Regulus Black, and the theory that Harry is a horcrux, the latter of which I believe was thought up by Molly. They were intrigued. Had dinner and played hearts (I lost).

And today I came home.

Oh, and Saturday nights were FMA, obviously. The second to last two before the SERIES ENDS. And let me tell you, they were awesome. I really hope Julie saw them, because I don't think I can stop myself from talking. They be some maaaaajor stuff going on, and only one episode left. Egads!

Anyway, it's almost dinner (assuming the Campus Center is even open now) and I gotta wash my hands again. I changed my fish water (they survived!) and washed my hands twice but they still smell. Ugh.

Oh, and the drugs seem to be working. Ish.
