Shoebox...has not really updated, but they've left a message there saying that no, they haven't died or killed the project, and that they'll hopefully have the next part out by Xmas.

Woot!!!! Signs of life!!

So I'm back home (in Ithaca). Plane ride sucked. Spent the night in a hotel since the campus wasn't open until noon today. 'Twas interesting, but I was too tired to be all, "like, whoa, this is the first time I've been in a hotel alone."

There's snow here! Well, not much, and it's all melting, but it's snow! It's reasonably cold, but not excruciatingly so. I haven't heard from the others, so I don't know if they're here or if they'll be back for dinner. Hopefully Julie will be back for CI and Crossing Jordan.

Did I mention that Wednesday's Lost was amazing? Me likey killa-bitch Ana Lucia.

Oh, and other references to Lost--it's kind of hard to watch that show and not start noticing the Numbers everywhere you go--especially in relation to planes. So get this. My flight to Philly? Number 42. Seat 23F. Heh heh. But since I'm here and alive, obviously we didn't crash in the South Pacific on an island with polar bears and guys named Desmond down hatches. I'd probably have been more weirded out if it was flight 815, anyway.

Back to the groove tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the second progress report is due for Essay. Which is alright, I've already typed it up, and I suppose it's not too horrible that I didn't do all the research I should have done. I'm going to have to work hard, though, what with all the projects and finals coming up. *gagk*

I got two books read during flights to and from Cali. Tiny Ladies in Shiny Pants which is all kinds of awesomeness. Personal essays by the writer of Six Feet Under about feminism and stuff--brought up a lot of things that I hadn't noticed before, but now I'm like..."Hey...whoa! WTF?" Oh, and Curse the Dark, the sequel to Staying Dead, which are about this girl who uses magic in modern times. UST finally resolved, sorta, in this second installment, and she once again goes up against badass mothafuckin' magic, oh yeah. Pretty good--relatively unknown, but pretty good. I also grabbed The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe from my set to read before the movie comes out. I only recently realized that Brokeback Mountain is going to have to compete with TLtWatW, as well as Memoirs of a Geisha (I think), which I also want to see, as they're releasing the same weekend. Moutain, so I've heard, is Oscar material, and so is Memoirs (possibly), but you know Wardrobe is going to be the cash cow for that weekend, probably overshining the other two. Which is sad. I want Mountain to do well--we need more of these non-mainstream movies. That's not to say it won't make it to the Oscars, since they favor movies people either haven't heard of or are non-mainstream ('least they have the last few years), but Wardrobe is going to be the big one in terms of viewership, simply because you've got the younger audience (and since it's pretty much the Bible in a fantasy setting, so you've got the cons on its side. Very very much not so with Mountain.).

le sigh

Ah well. 'Tis good to be back. Though it's weird. Can you be homesick for more than one place? Cause I sure was.
