Ah, Holidays

Ah, Christmas is almost over. It was quite lovely.
How'd I make out, eh?
Let's see. Plenty of money and gift cards. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Two shirts. Two books of poetry. The Beatles White Album (XOMG yes, been waiting for this for YEARS), and The Beatles Revolver (same!). A book on writing (^.^). Chocolate and the like. A new cell phone (woot!) though I don't actually have it yet--gonna get it tomorrow. And various and sundry nice things.
The only real disappointment was getting a Naruto DVD. Now, I'd put it on my list, because I'd assumed that--yanno--being an anime DVD, it just might have a Japanese audio track and subtitles. Like a good anime DVD is supposed to. But nooooooo. Naruto is for little American kids who can't read good, apparently. There isn't a single non-English track on the damn thing, nor any subtitles. And Naruto isn't in the category shared by FMA, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain and FLCL, which is of course the animes that are good in English. Naruto's English makes me die a little inside whenever I hear it. Has anyone heard Naruto's voice? Or Neji's? Or Sasuke's? Or Shikamaru's? Or Gaara's?
*shudder*
So that's one thing that needs returning. Ah well.
Tomorrow is a shopping day, assuming Nordstrom doesn't call in the morning demanding my presence. Gonna spend all my nice gift card money, cash my checks, get a cell phone, and stock up on the latest manga.
Yay for after X-mas sales.
I should call Nordstrom tomorrow though to find out when I'm working next.
How'd you all make out? Hope everyone had a great day.

Date: 2006-12-26 06:04 pm (UTC)That being said, while it's a travesty that the DVD doesn't have the original japanese, the reason is because they intend on releasing an uncut DVD in the future, with all of the good stuffs they took out and the japanese and subtitles. It is, after all, directed towards children, so it makes sense to release the original censored versions. God forbid if a kid sees Naruto stab his own hand (*rolls eyes*). However, they do plan to release uncensored DVDs for the more hardcore fans of the show. It's a shame you didn't know that before you put it on your list, but hey, you can probably return it.
