Well, Shit

Holy poop. What an episode.
An Eko episode--what happened to him after his brother died. Starts out with him hallucinating and seeing his brother, who keeps telling him to confess. First he sees him in his tent, which then catches fire--Locke and Charlie to the rescue to save him.
Meanwhile, Locke and Sayid are trying to figure out if they can get in contact with other Hatches, and Eko runs away. Locke realizes where Eko is going and takes Sayid and two extras to the Pearl Hatch, which as y'all remember is by the plane where Eko's brother was.
As Eko staggars through the jungle, he sees first a bunch of guys with missing limbs and also a little altar boy from his past. In the flashbacks you see that he becomes the priest for his brother's church, and there's an altar and a nurse from the clinic there. Some militia guys come in and say they want some of the vaccines that come in from the Red Cross; Eko turns his back on them and the leader shoots a random lady. The vaccines arrive in two days, and the nurse-lady tells Eko not to tangle with the guys, since they've been "protecting" the place in exchange for vaccines.
So he sees his brother again and is hallucinating and whatnot and--guess what? You see Cerberus in the background.
Cerberus being the smoke monster. The security system--Cerberus is its name, that's what we learned from the Blast Door Map.
Anyway, Locke and company catch up, they go to the Pearl, Eko looks in the plane and his brother is gone (the body). Locke gives him back the cross and leaves Eko to go down into the Pearl. They watch the tapes and realize that there's a bunch of TVs that can probably link to other Hatches (pointed out by a nameless extra). Sayid tries to patch in.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Island or wherever the hell the Others are, Ben comes to Jack wearing a weird white cult-like shirt thing, and Jack tells him he's going to die because of the tumor he saw on the X-ray on Ben's spine. That was last week. Ben is freaked out, but he takes Jack out to go to the funeral of that woman who died. Ben asks Juliette why she told him and she says he didn't.
Then Ben goes to Jack and is all like, "Well I had this great plan to turn you to our side, but now you know the secret, so...fuck that." And pretty much asks Jack to save his life. So I guess this is real this time, the Others aren't playing him, at least Ben isn't.
Then Juliette goes to Jack and puts in a movie and "begs" Jack to save Ben. On the video, which was supposed to be To Kill a Mockingbird, is Juliette holding up signs like, "Ignore what I'm saying," and "Dude, help me kill Ben. We want him dead. Make it look like an accident." Dunno if Jack trusts her, cause I sure as hell don't. I want both of them dead, frankly.
Back to the Hatch, Eko flashbacks reveal that he was going to sell the vaccines himself. Unfortunately the militia finds out, and three guys come to cut his hands off, but he ends up pretty much killing all three and walking out of the church covered in blood. The nurse tells him later he has to repent, that he has sinned and they board up the church. And apparently he goes off to London.
Eko sees his brother and chases him to a clearing, where his brother tells him to confess. Eko says he hasn't committed any sins--that he only did what he had to do, and that he doesn't regret killing a guy to save his brother's life. He makes peace with his past.
Then his brother says, "You speak to me as if I were your brother."
...
Eko's like, "Dude, WTF?" and his brother runs off. Eko chases him and Cerberus flicks by in the background. Eko comes to the trees and the smoke monster, Cerberus, rears up in front of him, grabs him with a tentacle of shadow and pretty much kills him.
Locke and company hear it howling and run out, but Cerberus is gone and Eko is dying. He whispers something in Locke's ear before he finally dies.
DAMMIT! I LIKED EKO!!
Grr...
Anyway. Sayid asks what he said and Locke looks at him and says, "He said, You're next."
Oh. Shit.
But dude. DUDE. Does this mean that Cerberus is what has been causing the weird happenings on the Island? Did the smoke monster take the form of Eko's brother and then kill Eko?
Do you guys have any idea what this might mean? It means Cerberus mighta been Jack's father in the beginning of the first season (both Eko's brother's and Jack's father's bodies were missing)!! Cerberus mighta been the horse that Kate saw! All the hallucinations and stuff? Was it Cerberus? What does that mean?
It makes sense though, because that one time when Eko met it, it seemed like it was reading his mind, cycling through his memories or something. And it's a giant fucking smoke monster that's supposed to be a security system! Smoke can be shaped. Can it take on the shape of a person to fuck with your head??
Oh man. I love theories!
And dude--in mythology, Cerberus is the guardian of the Underworld. In Lost, Cerberus is the guardian of the Island. Does that mean that the Island is the Underworld? I don't mean literally--but the Island is very difficult to find, and ususally in mythology when people go to the Underworld it's to find something, or make peace with oneself, or get something back, something like that, and isn't that what's been happening with the Losties? Plus all the dead people running around. So like--could the Island be a metaphor for the Underworld?
We didn't get any crazy Des-predictions this ep. Dang! He's totally Jesus. Or something.
Well, seems the insurance companies would rather fuck me over than see me actually, yanno, get better. Who'da thunk it?! Anyway, they're sticking me with a generic brand of Aciphex to see if that works for me. Who knows, maybe it will. It should be in Kinney's by now, so I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow thereabouts.
I found Touching Evil online! Dude! I love that show--it only ran for one season, but it's a brilliant storyline, very creepy, with awesome characters and awesome chemistry. Plus it's fun! I love it. Yay for the Internet.
Didn't dress up for Halloween. Ah well. Unless you count walking around wearing a Santa hat. I was "Confused." Or something.
Still reading Melusine by Sarah Monette, and it's very awesome, and you should all read it because it's lovely and brilliant.
Still haven't gotten tix for Lewis Black. Should do that.
Haven't started NaNo either...haven't even registered. Fuck.
