I haven't addressed this whole phone companies in the pockets of the NSA story thingy yet. I have to admit, I kind of assumed the NSA had already asked the phone companies for the records. Hell, I assume they've been doing this for some time. It wouldn't be the first time the government has infringed upon our privacy, and this is the Bush Admin we're talking about.
But apparently there's new news. Apparently the NSA is using the phone records to infringe upon freedom of the press. I found this tidbit via SEB, and unfortunately I don't have a link to the story, but from what I read it sounds like the NSA has been trying to dig up confidential sources and informants that might leak stories--such as this whole phone record thing--to the press. Infringing on privacy is one thing, infringing on the First Amendment is quite another. Freedom of the press can't be limited without being lost (I think Jefferson said that).
In all honesty, though, I'm sick of ranting about our government. They're being shitheads and torching the Constitution--same shit, different day. I'm done with being surprised by this Administration's complete and total lack of integrity, honesty and responsibility. It sickens me.
Ehhh.
Anyway. I got nothing done today. Which is bad. I should have spent today out applying for jobs. I have an excuse, though; it's red and feminine and causes paaaaaiiiinnnn. Took about an hour for Advil to kick in, and then I went to the grocery store to buy food since we had none and I was craving chocolate (there's a pitiful candy aisle at Albertsons and an even more pitiful selection of chocolate, so I ended up buying brownine and cake mix. I'll be fat before this summer is over, *sigh*) I'm gonna get on the job thing tomorrow, as soon as I'm awake. I neeeed a job.
No reading, no writing, so not much else to report on. Although--I did see the first three Azumanga Daioh's last night, and it's an adorable show, if odd.
