Oh definitely. I loved the movie, but I don't think I would have liked it as much if I hadn't read the book first. ALSO, I actually liked this ending better--not necessarily because of what Adrian did instead, but mostly because of subtler things, like the fact that Dan actually reacted to Ror's death. Frankly I thought the ending in the book was a little rushed and, even putting the squidbombs aside, very WTF. Everyone just seemed really...OOC, I dunno.
BUT, it was okay because the book was brilliant as a whole, and so was the movie.
