They like children as in, "children are nice, and if you try to hurt one, we will bury our nice shiny claws in your eyeballs." It's addressed at greater length in the Daine books--apparently it's very hard for Stormwings to bear young. Just carrying the egg can kill them, if I remember correctly? So they're protective of others' children.
And Inverloch... it took me a second, but it's like this: Raul kidnapped Silvah, Silvah didn't want to cooperate, so Raul switched the spirits in Acheron and Silvah's bodies. Real-Acheron went with Raul, and Silvah was left with his memories supressed in Acheron's body. And then, when Real-Acheron accidentally stabbed his body, Silvah's spirit went back to his own body and canceled out Real-Acheron's spirit. I think. And I don't know about the whole memories-in-a-pendant thing--I didn't quite get that, but apparently young Silvah stashed them there so he wouldn't forget.
Did that make sense? -re-reads- It didn't really make sense.
Okay. (A) = Acheron (S) = Silvah (A) and (S) switch bodies.
(S) saves his memories in the pendant to keep them from being erased. (A) goes with Raul.
(S) is raised by (A)'s family as (A). (S) finds the pendant and starts seeing his memories again.
Stuff happens.
(A) stabs his body/ stabs (S). (S) gets sucked back into his own body, and (A)'s spirit is cancelled out. Apparently the same way Raul tried to take wasserface's body and, apparently, failed.
I think that makes sense? Way more space than was required for that. T.T
