Catch! Bite!
Nov. 24th, 2007 11:53 pmI must admit myself pretty impressed with the dubbing of Death Note so far. ...So far. Light's voice actor does a pretty good job. I like Matsuda and Aizawa. Ryuk is great. Don't know what I think of Yagami-san...and Raye Penbar left something to be desired...
...and L's voice? They did something interesting there. You can hear L in it--careless, lethargic, condescending, strange, dry sense of humor. The voice actor got L, spot on, like his personality. Buuut something's also off in the voice. At the same time, I think it's the kind that will grow on me.
I find it amusing when they say the Japanese names. They say them in the accurate Japanese accent, but it's amusing to hear it coming out of an English-speaker's mouth.
One thing you do discover when hearing an anime in English is that you learn a lot more. It's mostly little things. But also, I don't think I realized before just how big of an idiot Misora is. I knew she was an idiot, but god damn! What woman in their right mind would be taken in by that kind of flattery? "Oh, I know you're a wise and caring person--I can see it in your eyes!" WHAT?! I-di-ot.
In other news, Kate returned today and we restocked the kitchen. Quite a splurge, but oh well.
I intend to discover a way to make excellent hot chocolate.
