Usually I hate dances, but last night was fun.

Went to Ips' house at fiveish to hang out and get ready. Austin (girl) showed up shortly thereafter, then we left at six to pick up Ipswich's and Austin's dates, Kevin and Evan (respectively). We got back at seven, which was when the rest of the group was supposed to show up, and they actually started arriving like five minutes after we got in the door--Robert, Alicia and Marcus, and then Lindy and Brandon. There was much hanging-out-ness and Robert and I tried to act date-y to no avail. Then we piled in cars to go to some Mexican restaurant before the dance.

I drove with Robert. As ever I find it's easier to talk to him when no one else is around, but the best we did was mostly small talk. We sat together at the food place too, though neither of us was hungry. (Alicia and Marcus let us mooch off of them though; plus there were these really awesome chips, but that was about it). There were a bunch of other people there going to the dance and they were all dressed up--the theme was Hollywood couples.

Then we went off to the dance, me still in Robert's car. More small talk, which I suck at. We got to the dance to find it raining and the line hella long, so after a half an hour or so we finally managed to get in.

The dance was really fun. No fights, no one crushing my feet. I don't think Robert was all that into it since he doesn't like dances anymore than I do, and it took both of us a while to loosen up. I still can't really breathe though because of the fucking smoke machines. What was up with that? Smelled like someone was burning something.

The dance kind of dragged on, though. After a while it was too hot and too difficult to breathe in there, then we found out that Ips and the rest were leaving. So we headed out and went to Mike Johnson's house, where Robert, Me, Ipswich, John, and Mike and his girlfriend Amber (at least for a short while) spent the night, pretty much. We all talked about people at school, at stuff we used to do in our "retarded years" as I think Ips put it. We played mindless games for a while but then I started falling asleep in an armchair. At five-ish we all kind of woke up and Mike drove Ips and I home. Fortunately Mom had left the back door unlocked. Then I slept till twelve.

So yeah, fun night. Really brings it home that this is the last year I'll see these people.
