Two More Down
Jan. 26th, 2005 12:18 pmWhee, my lame-ass speech is out of the way and with it two more finals, so only two left until...*sigh*, a lovely three day weekend. And three of my classes I shall not be returning to. Which means Econ next week...with Haubner...Gaea save me. Parent/Child Development and Foods 101/102 too. I'm going to die in foods. I've been in that class too much.
I ordered pizza! Woot! Should be here in a half an hour or so.
Neko Case's CD is so totally awesome. I don't know if I mentioned it before. It's more country than I expected, but I really like it because...her voice! Her voice! It's gorgeous. Whee!
Now that my finals are mostly out of the way my mind has been able to turn in other directions--particularly toward the application I have due on Tuesday and Penta. The application shouldn't be much of an issue since it's more straightforward than the others though there are some ambiguous sections. The essay shouldn't be all that difficult either.
Penta is having issues, on the other hand. I'm at a slowish section between what is being labeled as "the Serenity incident" and the Next Big Event. I have a lot of connective tissue to do. I'm also worried about the end. I think it may be a bit of a deux ex machina, which sucks. I don't want to come off as a lazy writer. The ending was made up when I thought this would be a one-book thing, but the ending also works pretty well to carry on into the second book. The problem is...it IS kind of a deux ex machina and it's also very soap opera-ish. So I need to do a bit of rethinking on it or put in more foreshadowing so the ending doesn't come off as convenient and unbelievable.
Another problem with the ending is it's a little corny. Pretty corny actually. Augh, I don't know. I really need to take a look at it. And I need to figure it out before the NBE because some things that happen around in can't happen if I'm going to change the ending.
Sometimes the muse is cruel.
