Words

I think the words "cuttlefish" and "surreptitious" should be in every single book written. And I think the word "plethora" should be taken out of the English language, tied up, dumped in wet concrete, and sent to Davy Jones.

How about you, my zillions of readers? Any words you just love to see in print? Any words you simply cringe to see or hear spoken?

I agree with the plethora thing. And I also hate the words passion, passionate, passionately, etc.

Plethora, ugh. It even sounds nasty. Like a disease or something. "I have plethora and I only have six months to live."

I agree with "passion etc." too. I figure, you should be able to convey passion without having to use the actual word. And adverbs should just wither up and die anyway. (Though unfortunatly I'm still prone to using them on occasion...)

"Rather" definitely needs to go. In fact, so does "definitely", if only because I simply can't stop using it no matter how hard I try. I'd like to see more of "ascend", though. Pretty word.

Lol, yeah, I use "rather" and "definitely" quite a bit too. I like "ascend" too, it gives you images of clouds and sky and tranquility.

I like "unadulterated" too. That's another good one.

Heck yeah! I'm totally adding that to my list of words I need to use more often... along with "indubitably". Sweet word, that. Fun as hell to say.

Ooh! You know another good one? "Obfuscate." I don't know when I'd ever use it, but it just sounds so awesome. So does "inveigle." *koff* X-phile talking *koff*

Lol, I know. So was just about every line in "Bad Blood." Best. Episode. Ever. (That's the one with vampires where Mulder and Scully tell different sides of the story...)

Hm, I don't think I ever saw that one, and it was actually part of a season I thought I'd seen all of (I looked it up...)! Grr.
